Bud lives in Edgefield, SC with his wife Jennifer and three children, Ellie, Macy, and W.G. on a livestock and timber farm. He was raised on a row crop farm and started a boiled and green peanut operation as a child. He graduated Clemson University with a B.S. in Wildlife & Fisheries Biology and a M.S. in Plant Science. He also serves as Farm Loan Chief for USDA-Farm Service Agency in South Carolina, where for 15 years he has financed hundreds of poultry farm and farmland transactions. Given his extensive experience in poultry, timberland, and farm tract sales transactions, he understands the challenges of finding and securing capital for land purchases and the value of owning your own farm.
